Case Details
33 year old male 8 weeks after correction of a large pectus excavatum defect with a custom pectus excavatum implant. This was an interesting and unusual case of a patient who had both pectus excavatum (depressed sternum) and pectus carinatum (pigeon chest defect or protruding sternum). His lower central chest was depressed and his upper central chest was protruding. The depressed central area of the chest also extended lateral on each side like a “T”. The deformity was much more pronounced in person. He also had surgery as a child to attempt correction, which was not overly successful. He chose to have a custom soft solid silicone implant placed to hide the defects. The implant was placed using a small portion of the scar that was already present across his lower chest. Now 8 weeks after his procedure, the obvious high area and depressed areas are very well corrected by an Implantec custom moulage silicone implant. This patient couldn’t be happier with his results.
