JUVEDERM™

This is the newest Dermal Filler available. It is a hyaluronic acid, which is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells, and one of the major components of the dermis connective tissue matrix.

Hyaluronic acid retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight, helping to increase its volume and density.

JUVEDERM™ is a smooth injectable gel that will improve wrinkles or folds. Results are smooth and natural; everyone will notice but no one will know. This product comes in two strengths: ULTRA – for less intense areas and lips, and ULTRA PLUS – to correct deeper wrinkles and folds.

JUVEDERM™ has a high degree of cross linking –, with HYLACROSS TECHONOLOGY promoting duration of six months or longer. There is less discomfort with this product and patients notice the natural look and feel it brings. For optimal results we recommend the layering method. One or two syringes are done per area and patients return a month later for another syringe. Results will last even longer!

After several months, the diminished lines and wrinkles will slowly begin to reappear which is the best time to touch up and layer additional JUVEDERM™ . Replenishing the JUVEDERM™ before it is all gone, will maintain a more youthful and vibrant appearance.

Restylane® Injections

Restylane® Injections

Restylane® is a natural filler used to correct wrinkles and facial folds by restoring volume and fullness to your skin. Restylane® is completely safe and injections are relatively painless. Made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body, Restylane® virtually eliminates the potential for allergic reaction. It also lasts twice as long (six months) as other fillers, such as collagen. Patients can expect temporary redness and swelling around the area of injection, but this will subside within two to three days.

Restylane® injection is fast and painless. In fact, many people have Restylane® injections during their lunch hour. You can enjoy the results immediately. To experience the benefits of Restylane®, contact Dr. Gershenbaum in his Miami location today!

Perlane®

Perlane® restores volume and fullness to the skin, correcting moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds). After treatment, there might be some swelling, redness, pain, and bruising. This will normally last less than seven days. Although rare, red or swollen small bumps may occur. If the patient has had herpes, an injection can cause an outbreak. In rare circumstances, the doctor may inject into a blood vessel, which can damage the skin. To avoid bruising and bleeding, Perlane should not be used if the patient has recently used blood-thinning or anti-clotting drugs. Those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, shouldn’t use Perlane®.

Q : What is Perlane® used for?

A Perlane® is used to smooth moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles such as the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds). Perlane® generally lasts for about 6 months. It has been found to be a safe dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin.

Q : How does Perlane® work?

A Perlane® is injected into the skin with an ultrafine needle. It plumps the skin to smooth wrinkles and folds. Perlane®’s water-loving nature attracts and binds water molecules to help maintain volume. Perlane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the body. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® is a crystal clear gel, chemically cross-linked (the long chemical strands are tied together) to delay breakdown by skin enzymes. Perlane® is non-animal-based and free from animal protein. This quality prevents disease transmission.

Allergy testing prior to use is not necessary.

Q : How long does Perlane® last?

A Perlane® is proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Perlane® effects last about six months as shown in the following graphs. Perlane® gradually disappears from the body without a trace.

Sculptra®

Sculptra® is an enduring treatment approved by the FDA for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, in people with human immunodeficiency virus. It is the first FDA-approved product of its kind for this condition.

Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra® is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. It provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. No skin testing is required.

Sculptra® has been safely used outside the United States since 1999 in more than 150,000 patients under the trade names New-Fill™ and Sculptra®.

Sculptra® is an injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Sculptra® provides an increase in skin thickness, helping to create a more natural facial appearance in those with facial lipoatrophy.

Sculptra® is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material. Sculptra® is not made from human or animal sources and does not require a skin test. Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a biocompatible (does not harm the body), biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body) material that has been widely used for many years in surgical products. The effects are long-lasting; they were shown in a clinical study to last for up to 2 years after the first treatment session.

The effects of Sculptra® are enduring. In a clinical study, effects lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment session in most patients. The results from Sculptra® are not immediate; Sculptra® provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. Dr. Gershenbaum will see you again in a few weeks to decide if additional injections are needed. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effects.

People with mild lipoatrophy will require fewer treatments than those with severe lipoatrophy.

When the word lipoatrophy is broken down, “lipo” means “fat,” and “atrophy” means “the loss of.” Facial lipoatrophy is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes.

Sculptra® is injected into the skin for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus.

Sculptra® should not be used by those who are allergic to any ingredient of Sculptra®. Sculptra® should not be injected by those who have an active skin infection or inflammation in the treatment area.

Side effects of Sculptra® may include the delayed appearance of small bumps under the skin in the treated area. Generally these bumps are not visible and may only be noticed when pressing on the treated area. Other side effects may include injection-related events at the site of injection, such as bleeding, tenderness or discomfort, redness, bruising or swelling.
