38 year old female 4 months after abdominoplasty performed by Dr Sam Gershenbaum. She was mostly concerned with the projection of her abdomen from the side. This protrusion results from a weakness in the abdominal wall between the rectus muscles, called diastasis recti. When extensive can lead to bulging of intra abdominal tissues or intestine and become a ventral hernia as in this case. After repair of the abdominal wall and removal of the extra skin below, the scar is hidden in the bikini line. She has no further discomfort, can now dress more comfortably and is very happy with her results.
